Money mindset: why money leaves as fast as it comes, and what helps
13-Aug-2026
Some people earn well and still feel that money never stays. A payment arrives and a sudden expense follows. Savings grow for a few months and then something always comes up. When this keeps repeating, it is worth looking beyond the numbers at the beliefs and habits underneath.
Before we begin, an honest note: this article is about mindset and energy. It is not financial advice, and it does not replace a budget, an accountant or a financial adviser. The practices below work best alongside practical money care, not instead of it.
Why money disappears as soon as it arrives
When there are constant, sudden expenses, I think of them as energetic leaks. Often the leak is a belief such as "money never stays with me" or "something always goes wrong", and we unconsciously act in ways that prove it right. The work is to notice these patterns and gently make physical and mental shifts that close the leaks.
Loyalty to your family's money story
This is one of the most common blocks I see. Sometimes we stop ourselves from growing past a certain income because, deep down, earning more feels like it would separate us from our family's reality. It is a silent and loving loyalty, but it can hold us back for years.
You can love your family and still outgrow their financial limits. Doing better does not betray them. Many people find that this pattern softens when they work with their ancestors with gratitude rather than guilt, as in the Pitra Paksh ritual.
Your space reflects your money container
When we hold on to old, broken or unused things "just in case" we can't afford them later, we are quietly telling ourselves, "I will not have enough." That fear takes up room that new opportunities could fill.
A simple clearing practice:
- Find five items you haven't used in six months, and donate them.
- As you let each one go, say: "I trust the universe to provide whenever I have a need."
- Clean the area they came from, so fresh energy can come in.
Spending with an open heart
How money leaves you matters as much as how it arrives. When money goes out happily, paying a bill with thanks, buying something with joy, it supports a happy flow back in. When every payment comes with resentment or fear, we reinforce scarcity.
Do you choose from the price tag?
Here is a small habit that says a lot. If you always look at the price column first and choose the cheapest thing whether or not you want it, you may be reinforcing a belief that you are not worthy of good things. Next time you eat out somewhere that fits your budget, try this:
- Choose first: decide what sounds delicious before you look at the price.
- Savour it: eat slowly and appreciate the food.
- Affirm your worth: tell yourself, "I am fully capable of affording this."
This is about self-worth, not overspending. Stay within your means; the practice is in the feeling.
Abundance is an energy you can build
An abundance mindset is not something you are either born with or not. It can be learnt, step by step, through awareness, daily practice and simple, doable remedies. Shifting from scarcity to abundance often means looking at childhood imprints around money: what you heard, what you saw, what you were afraid of.
Visualisation, number codes and switchwords
Some people like to support their money intentions with visualisation and sacred number sequences. If, for example, a client owes you money, you can visualise them paying you happily and in full, and coming back to work with you again. Some people chant the number sequence 7740969 21, 43 or 108 times, or repeat the switchword "Give Count" followed by the person's name. What matters most is a calm belief and a clear picture in your mind. These are reflective practices, and they sit alongside clear invoices and polite reminders, not in place of them. I write more about these in switchwords and how to use them.
Pick a card: what is blocking your savings?
Your subconscious often knows what is blocking you before your mind does. In this pick-a-card exercise:
- Take a deep breath and look at both cards.
- Choose the one that catches your eye first.
- Notice the quiet emotion that comes with your choice: is it curiosity, or fear?
That first emotion is often as revealing as the card itself.
What this is not
Mindset work can change how you relate to money, but it does not guarantee any amount of income, and no ritual or number can replace sensible financial planning. If you are in debt or financial difficulty, please speak to a qualified professional.
