Pick-a-card readings and intuition: how to use them well
30-Aug-2026
A pick-a-card reading is a group reading: two, three or more options are shown, each hiding a message, and you choose the one that calls to you. It can be cards, colours, flowers, numbers or symbols. The reading is general, so it will never be as detailed as a one-to-one session, but it is a lovely way to practise something important: trusting your first instinct.
How to choose
Your soul often knows what you need before your mind catches up. When you choose:
- Take a slow breath and soften your shoulders.
- Look at all the options for a moment, without thinking.
- Go with the one that catches your eye first, or the one you keep coming back to.
- Notice how you feel as you choose. Curiosity, relief, resistance, even a little fear: all of it is information.
Don't choose the option you think you should want. And don't choose again until you get an answer you like. The first pick is the honest one.
Simple intuition exercises
You can practise intuition with anything. Choosing a number between 1 and 100 without thinking, a colour that feels right today, or a flower you are drawn to are all ways of letting the quieter part of you answer first. A colour choice can be a gentle check of your energy temperature: what you need to heal, and what you want to amplify.
A love reading from February 2026: three Wands cards
This reading was for love in February 2026. If you are reading it later, choose a card now and read it as a message about your current pattern in love.
Card 1: Knight of Wands (passion, movement, sudden sparks). Expect fire: intense attraction, fast communication, spontaneous plans, flirty conversations, perhaps a sudden reconnection or unexpected meeting. Work on impulsiveness and confusing passion with commitment. Ask yourself: is this excitement sustainable, or just adrenaline? Affirmation: "I allow passion into my life while staying emotionally balanced and secure."
Card 2: King of Wands (leadership, mature passion, long-term vision). This is intentional love. Either you attract a confident, vision-driven partner, or you become the emotionally steady one. Expect clear communication and planning a future together. Work on ego clashes and wanting control instead of collaboration. Love grows where respect lives. Affirmation: "I attract mature, stable and passionate love aligned with my highest self."
Card 3: Ten of Wands (burden, emotional overload). Love may feel heavy: one-sided effort, feeling unappreciated, serious conversations about imbalance. Work on boundaries, and on saying "I need support" without guilt. You don't have to prove love through suffering. Affirmation: "I release emotional burdens and allow balanced, supportive love into my life."
If this brought up questions about readiness, you may like are you ready for love?
A Reiki symbol reading
Here, instead of cards, you choose one of three Reiki symbols. Cho Ku Rei comes from Usui Reiki; Raku and Zonar are used in Karuna and Tibetan Reiki.
Raku: "You're ready to release." Raku is the lightning bolt of detachment, used to cut cords and seal healing. You may have chosen it because you are tired of carrying old pain. Let go instead of fixing, say "I release what no longer serves me", and rest more. Chakra to work on: root, for safety and grounding.
Zonar: "You're healing something very old." Zonar works with deep subconscious wounds and ancestral patterns. Your inner child may be asking for compassion, not strength. Journal old memories, try gentle self-Reiki or a hand on your heart, and do forgiveness work, especially around parents and ancestors. Chakra to work on: sacral, for emotions and stored grief.
Cho Ku Rei: "You need energy, protection and power." Cho Ku Rei is the power switch that amplifies energy, clarity and intention. Your mind may feel scattered or drained. Ground daily with bare feet on the earth or a salt water bath, protect your energy, and set a clear intention before you act. Chakra to work on: solar plexus, for confidence and boundaries.
When a pick-a-card isn't enough
A group reading speaks to many people at once, so some of it will fit you and some won't. Take what resonates and leave the rest. When you feel truly lost or stuck, a personal reading looks at your own situation: where the energy is now, what the past is teaching you and what you can do next.
What these readings are not
Pick-a-card readings are for reflection and fun. They don't predict a fixed future, and they don't replace medical, legal, financial or psychological advice.
