Self-love and self-worth: how to be your own biggest fan

14-Aug-2026

So many of the people I work with come to me with a question about money, love or career. Very often, when we look a little deeper, the real question underneath is about worth. Do I deserve this? Am I good enough? Why do I need others to tell me I am doing well?

Self-love is where I like to begin, because it changes the frequency of everything else.

Self-love changes your frequency

When you love and value yourself, you naturally attract relationships, opportunities and money that match that value. When you don't, you tend to accept less than you need and wonder why the same patterns keep repeating.

Much of how we see ourselves was shaped early: childhood imprints, things we were told, and patterns handed down through the family. The good news is that imprints can be rewritten. In my work I combine tarot guidance, astrology, numerology and energy healing to help people see these old imprints, release generational blocks and step into a new version of themselves.

Be your own biggest fan

You know your path. Your life is your story. You know what you have been through, what you have braved, what you left behind and sacrificed, how you rose and what you learnt. So why do you need validation from anyone else?

Before you make a decision, or when someone is pushing you towards one, ask yourself three questions:

  1. Am I comfortable doing this? This sets your priority.
  2. Will I be happy or resentful? This answers the emotion.
  3. Why am I choosing this? This gives you clarity about the reason and the outcome.

When you can answer all three honestly, you are aligned to handle almost any situation.

Remember: a suggestion from someone else is a chance to see another perspective, not an order. You can listen with respect and still choose your own way. This matters especially if you have grown up around control, patriarchy or narcissistic behaviour, where your own wishes were rarely asked for. Building self-worth means learning, gently, that your answer counts.

You are the energy amplifier

Whatever you feel inside, you amplify into the world around you. Calm spreads calm; resentment spreads resentment. That is why self-care is not selfish. When you are full, you have more to give.

Claim this with daily affirmations:

  1. I am a source of positive energy.
  2. I love myself and everything around me turns blissful.
  3. My self-care brings an abundance of harmony, fulfilment and prosperity of all kinds around me.
  4. I love to do what I like, and everything I like comes back to me with infinite love.

Say them in the morning, in front of a mirror if you can, and mean each word. If one feels untrue, say it more slowly. You are not lying to yourself; you are practising a new truth.

Self-expression is the key to healthy living

Please don't take this lightly. Feelings that are never expressed don't disappear. They settle in the body as tension, tiredness and heaviness, and in energy work we often see them sitting in the throat chakra, the centre of communication.

Self-expression doesn't have to mean confrontation. It can be:

  • Saying "no" without a long explanation.
  • Writing a letter you never send.
  • Singing, dancing, painting or speaking your feelings aloud when you are alone.
  • Telling one trusted person how you really are.

Start small. Every honest expression makes the next one easier.

Feeling empowered

Empowerment is not about becoming someone else. It is about returning to who you were before the world told you to shrink. If you know a friend who needs to hear this today, share this article with them. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is remind someone else of their worth.

Being myself, happy myself

Here is a simple check-in you can do any time. Pause, put a hand on your heart, and say: Being myself, happy myself. Notice what happens in your body. Do you relax, or tense up? That one moment tells you how close you are living to your true energy today.

What self-love is not

Self-love is not selfishness, and it is not pretending everything is fine. It includes boundaries, rest and sometimes asking for help. If you are struggling with low mood, anxiety or a difficult relationship, please also speak to a counsellor or doctor. These practices sit alongside professional care, not in place of it. If you would like a practice for letting go of old hurts, Ho'oponopono pairs beautifully with this work.

If you'd like support

If you sense an old imprint or family pattern standing between you and your own worth, we can work on it gently together. My Reiki healing sessions are a calm space to release what you are carrying, or you can send me a message first.

Whenever you're ready, I'm here
