A Diwali manifestation ritual you can do at home

18-Oct-2026

Diwali is a beautiful time to set intentions. The whole festival is about light winning over darkness, about cleaning and preparing our homes to welcome Maa Lakshmi, and about beginning again. That makes it a natural moment to clear out the old and invite in what you truly want.

Why Diwali is a time for manifesting

In the weeks before Diwali, families clean every corner of the home. We let go of what is broken or no longer used, and we decorate with lights and rangoli. On the night itself, we light diyas and pray to Lakshmi for abundance and to Ganesha for wisdom and the removal of obstacles.

Manifestation follows the same rhythm: clear the space, get clear on what you want, light it up with intention and gratitude, and then act.

The ritual

You will need a diya or candle, a notebook or paper and a pen, and a quiet moment on Diwali evening.

  1. Clear one space. Alongside the home cleaning, choose one area, a drawer, a desk, a corner, and clear it with full attention. As you do, think of what you are making room for.
  2. Light your diya. Sit in front of it and take a few slow breaths.
  3. Release. Write down what you are leaving behind with the old year: a worry, a habit, a belief that has held you back.
  4. Write your intentions. On a fresh page, write three to five intentions for the coming year, in the present tense, as if they are already true. "I am..." "I have..." "I welcome..."
  5. Gratitude. Write down at least five things you are already thankful for. Abundance grows from gratitude, not lack.
  6. Offer it up. Read your intentions to the light, silently or aloud, and offer them with a short prayer to Lakshmi and Ganesha, or in whatever words feel right to you.
  7. Keep your page. Place it somewhere safe, near your puja space, and read it on the first day of each month.

Make it real

An intention without action is only a wish. Choose one small step towards each intention and take the first one in the week after Diwali. Then the light you lit on Diwali night keeps burning through the year.

In the video above I share the ritual in full. You can also watch my Diwali of transformation video for more on using the festival as a fresh start.

A gentle note

These are rituals for reflection, focus and gratitude, not guarantees. Please keep diyas and candles safely away from curtains and children.

If you'd like guidance on the year ahead, a tarot reading or a numerology reading for your personal year can help you choose where to focus. You can also send me a message.
