Feeling stuck in your career? Hard work, procrastination and purpose

17-Sep-2026

Feeling stuck in your career is one of the most common reasons people come to me. Sometimes they are working harder than ever and still not moving forward. Sometimes they know exactly what they should do but can't make themselves start. And sometimes they feel the moment has simply passed them by.

All three are forms of the same thing: energy that has stopped flowing. Here is how I look at each one, with simple techniques you can begin with today.

A technique for when you feel stuck

When a career feels stuck, the first job is to get energy moving again, before trying to solve everything at once. A few gentle ways to do that:

  • Change your physical space. Clear your desk, open a window, sit somewhere new to work.
  • Write it out. On one page, write exactly what feels stuck. On another, write what your dream career would feel like on an ordinary day.
  • Take one small, visible step. Update one line of your CV, send one message, sign up for one class.

Movement creates movement. Once something shifts, the next step usually becomes clearer.

Myth-breaking: the hard work lie

This one is for stressed entrepreneurs, freelancers and service providers who believe the answer is always to grind harder.

Hard work matters. But hard work alone won't make you prosperous if part of you is pushing money away. Many people put in hours and hours and still see low financial results. Often this happens because their conscious effort is working against a subconscious belief, picked up long ago, that money is dirty, greedy or stressful. Wealth is an energetic match first, and physical action second.

Three steps to begin shifting it:

  1. Change your language. Stop saying "It's too expensive." Say "It's not my priority right now." The first tells your mind that money is out of reach; the second keeps you in choice.
  2. Meditate with angel number 520. Sit quietly, breathe slowly, and hold the number 520 in your mind, or write it down and keep it where you will see it.
  3. Use switchwords to reprogramme your mindset. Chant "Release" to let go of old beliefs, and "Divine Count Now" to invite money to flow in.

Stop grinding yourself to the bone. Rest, clarity and the right beliefs make your effort count for more.

Stop procrastinating: learn, apply, grow

Procrastination is rarely laziness. More often it is fear: of failing, of being judged, of not being ready. The way out is to switch into a simple cycle:

  1. Learn one thing. Not ten courses at once; one skill, one book, one idea.
  2. Apply it straight away, however imperfectly.
  3. Grow by noticing what worked, then learning the next thing.

Keep the cycle short. A small step taken today is worth more than a perfect plan for next month. If you want a structured way to set goals and keep going, my post on how to amplify your goals walks through one.

It is never too late to start again

Who said life was meant to be only: grow up, study, get married, raise children, and then wait for an emptiness to be filled? Every moment is a new chance. That is life.

This is especially for every woman who thinks she is too old to start, or to restart. Your experience is a living dictionary. Everything you have learnt as a homemaker, a mother, a carer or a professional is knowledge the next generation needs. Whether it is a small business, a return to work, teaching, or a completely new path, your age is not a barrier. It is a resource.

If you read that and thought "Yes, I'm ready", wonderful. If you thought "No, not me", read it again. You may need to hear it a few more times.

Understanding your career path

Astrology, numerology and tarot can all help you see what kind of work suits your nature, and when a period is better for change. In a birth chart we look at the 10th house of career and the planets that influence it; in numerology, your birth and life path numbers show your natural strengths. These don't decide your future, but they can save you years of guessing.

A gentle note

These are tools for mindset and reflection. They don't replace career counselling, financial planning or professional business advice, and switchwords and angel numbers work best alongside real, practical action.
